Academic Integrity & Ethics

Faculty Ethics and Anti-Corruption Policies

Academic ethics are fundamental to the University's sustainable development. NUTN encourages faculty members to complete online academic ethics courses and raises awareness of common forms of academic misconduct during promotion briefings and orientation sessions for new faculty. The University has also established Guidelines for Handling Academic Ethics Cases Involving Faculty and Researchers and created an Academic Ethics Review Committee to ensure an objective and impartial review process. In accordance with the Ministry of Education's ethics and integrity regulations, the Office of Personnel also maintains an Anti-Bribery and Election Integrity Section on its website, promotes conflict-of-interest avoidance among public officials, and safeguards a culture of integrity in governance.

Diverse Faculty Promotion Pathways

Since 2016, the University has established diverse pathways for faculty promotion. In addition to the traditional route based on scholarly publications, faculty may also pursue promotion through teaching practice research, industry-academia collaboration, artistic creation and performance, or athletic competition — allowing each faculty member to seek promotion according to their own strengths, so that talent is matched to the right role.

Teaching and Research Evaluation

The University has established the "National University of Tainan Faculty Evaluation Regulations," under which full-time faculty undergo evaluation once every five years. This institutionalized evaluation process promotes faculty professional development, encourages continuous improvement in teaching and research, and ensures teaching quality. For faculty who have not yet passed promotion within the required term limit, a dedicated evaluation and mentoring mechanism is in place to help them complete the promotion process while safeguarding their employment rights.
