NUTN aspires to become a model university distinguished by quality and excellence. Despite limited resources, the University actively secures funding to implement environmental protection and energy-conservation policies. It continues to promote green procurement, meeting annual targets for designated items in each of the past three years. Under its energy-efficiency improvement plan, the University reduced its Energy Use Intensity (EUI) to 53.79 in 2025, outperforming the baseline of 57.6, while electricity consumption decreased by 6.3% compared with 2023.

Climate Response Strategies under the TCFD Framework
As climate change intensifies, campus facilities, maintenance, and energy use face growing pressure. Drawing on the TCFD framework, NUTN identifies risks and plans responses across four dimensions—governance, strategy, risk management, and metrics and targets—while strengthening campus resilience through renewable energy, energy management, and conservation measures.

Risk Management
NUTN evaluates both transition risks—policy, legal, technological, and market changes arising from the low-carbon transition—and physical risks, including financial losses caused by extreme weather. Based on the findings, the University continues to improve environmental policies, assess financial impacts, and develop resilient campus-management practices.

Drought and rising temperatures may lead to water shortages and higher campus electricity costs.
Response:Multiple buildings are equipped with rainwater harvesting systems, while raft foundations in new buildings include water-storage facilities to meet demand during supply interruptions.

Campus Green Hedge Project Recognition
NUTN participated in the Ministry of Education's Campus Green Hedge Project, transforming the intersection of Shulin Street and Cingjhong Street at the Fucheng Campus with primarily native Taiwanese plants to enhance both biodiversity and landscape quality. In 2025, the project received Second Place in the Ministry of Education's 2024 Outstanding Campus Green Hedge Project Awards, an exceptional result for the University's first participation and a clear demonstration of its sustainable campus achievements.
