Green Building Certification

Three NUTN buildings hold Green Building Labels: Huanyu Hall and Shushen Hall are certified Silver, while the waste-liquid storage facility at the Rongyu Campus, which uses high-performance green building materials, is certified Qualified. The Teaching and Research Building under construction and the planned Multipurpose Activity Building at the Fucheng Campus will also pursue certification in greenery, daily energy conservation, indoor environment, and water resources.

Shushen Hall Certified under Five Green Building Indicators

Shushen Hall holds a Silver rating, with certification under five indicators: greenery, indoor environment, wastewater and waste improvement, daily energy conservation, and water resources. The design puts energy conservation, carbon reduction, and resource circulation into practice.

Green Procurement and Consumption

Green procurement promotes sustainable resource use by prioritizing recyclable, low-pollution, resource-efficient products that carry environmental labels. In line with government policy, green procurement accounted for more than 96% of NUTN purchases in each of the past three years, exceeding the 95% target. Covered categories include recycled-resource products, information technology products, appliances, and office supplies.

Green Transportation

NUTN actively supports government vehicle-electrification policy. In 2024, one official passenger vehicle was replaced with a hybrid, and future replacements will prioritize electric vehicles in support of the government's goal of fully electrifying urban buses and official vehicles by 2030. The University is also coordinating with the city government to expand YouBike access between the Fucheng and Rongyu campuses and provides bicycle parking at suitable campus locations to encourage public-bike commuting.

Indoor Air Quality Management

NUTN Receives a 2025 Tainan City Award for Excellence in Air Quality Maintenance

The NUTN Library was among the first indoor venues regulated under the Ministry of Environment's Indoor Air Quality program. A designated staff member prepares and reports the maintenance plan and manages inspections, periodic testing, scheduled air-conditioning maintenance, and automated monitoring. After each inspection, data on CO₂, formaldehyde, PM2.5, bacteria, and other indicators are displayed prominently at the entrance.

All legally regulated substances tested at NUTN have consistently performed better than statutory standards. In 2021, the Library received the Excellent Self-management Indoor Air Quality Label; in October 2025, following document review and an on-site evaluation by experts, it also received the Tainan City Outstanding Regulated Venue Award
