National University of Tainan (NUTN) welcomed a delegation from Ishikawa Prefectural University, Japan, on May 29, 2026. Coordinated by NUTN's Office of International Affairs, the visit combined institutional dialogue, academic seminars, and campus tours to promote substantive exchanges in international collaboration and biotechnology research.
The program began with a bilateral meeting between representatives of the two universities. NUTN Vice President Chih-Cheng Hou extended a warm welcome to the delegation and exchanged commemorative flags with the guests, symbolizing the friendship and growing partnership between the two institutions. Dr. Ying-Chih Pu, Dean of International Affairs, then introduced NUTN's distinctive academic strengths, international partnerships, and educational resources, providing an overview of the University's recent achievements in global engagement and talent cultivation.
A key highlight of the visit was the academic symposium organized by the Department of Biological Sciences and Biotechnology and chaired by Professor Ming-Chih Huang. Faculty members from both universities presented their latest research on topics including enzyme synthesis, marine biotechnology, translational applications in agricultural and medical sciences, natural product analysis, microbial research, and data-driven bioprocess engineering.
The symposium provided an excellent platform for in-depth discussions on research methodologies, technological applications, and potential avenues for future collaboration. Through the exchange of scholarly literature and research experiences, participating faculty members gained deeper insights into emerging trends in their respective fields and explored opportunities for joint research projects and academic partnerships.
Following the seminar, the delegation toured the NUTN campus under the guidance of Japanese students from the Department of Biological Sciences and Biotechnology. The visit offered guests an opportunity to experience the University's teaching and research environment firsthand. The delegation expressed great appreciation for NUTN's achievements in biotechnology research, international engagement, and talent development.
