The Department of Business and Management at National University of Tainan (NUTN) hosted the finals of the 9th "Campus for Good: 2026 Sustainability Challenge" on May 30, 2026, at the Chiming Performing Arts Hall on the University's Fucheng Campus. Faculty members and students from National University of Tainan, National Sun Yat-sen University, National Chiayi University, Providence University, and Tamkang University gathered to participate in the competition. Under the theme "Food Collection for Love," student teams transformed classroom learning into meaningful social engagement through project proposals, public outreach, and final presentations, demonstrating how the younger generation can address social issues with creativity and action.

Launched in 2018 by the NPOchannel social innovation platform, Campus for Good is built upon the core values of public service and sustainable development. By connecting university courses with real-world social issues, the program encourages students to step beyond the classroom and gain firsthand experience in public communication, resource integration, and project implementation. This year's challenge integrated management knowledge, marketing strategies, and social design thinking, guiding students through every stage of project development—from problem identification and solution design to implementation and impact evaluation—while demonstrating the effectiveness of experiential, practice-oriented learning.

The event began with an inter-university faculty forum, where participating instructors shared experiences of integrating public service themes into curriculum design. You-Lin Chang, founder of the NPOchannel platform, delivered a keynote address exploring the relationship between higher education and social engagement, inspiring faculty members and students to reflect on the University's role in addressing societal challenges. During the afternoon session, finalist teams from each university presented their projects before a judging panel comprising representatives from academia, industry, and the nonprofit sector. Awards were presented in four categories: Public Service Achievement Award, Sustainable Model Award, Public Service Practice Award, and Creative Breakthrough Award, with entries evaluated on innovation, execution, and social impact.

Rather than focusing solely on fundraising or sales performance, this year's competition emphasized each team's understanding of social issues and the tangible impact of its actions. From identifying community needs and designing practical solutions to implementing outreach initiatives, participating teams demonstrated their ability to apply management thinking to integrate resources, develop strategic action plans, and respond effectively to societal challenges. Competition was exceptionally strong. NUTN students delivered outstanding performances: the "Food Rescue" team received Second Prize in the Creative Breakthrough Award; "Food with Love" earned Third Prize in the Public Service Practice Award; while "Changing the Future with Love" and "Seeds of Light" were awarded Third and Fourth Prize, respectively, in the Sustainable Model Award, showcasing how management expertise can be translated into meaningful public service.

According to Professor Yung-Chang Hsiao, Chair of the Department of Business and Management, management education is not only about acquiring professional knowledge but also about cultivating students' ability to integrate resources and respond effectively to real-world challenges. By combining academic coursework with public service projects and inter-university collaboration, students learn to identify social needs, apply management tools to solve problems, and become agents of positive change. He emphasized that the competition represented far more than a showcase of project outcomes—it was a comprehensive learning experience that integrated theory, practice, and social responsibility. Through experiences such as these, students are expected to carry forward what they have learned, apply their professional expertise across diverse fields, and continue creating innovative solutions that contribute to society.
